I was a resident at Sunset house for about 5 months after completing a 28 day treatment in Maryland. It was recommended to me by my counselor who was adamant about me going to an aftercare program. As a 21 year old kid, I knew nothing about how to live a sober and responsible life. I can honestly say this place helped me become established in recovery. The staff is fantastic and the program is focused on not only how to remain sober but how to live in sobriety. At Sunset I learned the importance of meetings, stepwork, sponsorship, and homegroups. I also learned how to become financially responsible. Lastly, I learned how to have fun in sobriety. All of this education is so important in recovery. I am now 23 years old and have 21 months of recovery and I am very grateful for the role Sunset House played in my journey and so are my parents. There are so many recovery houses in Florida but Sunset House is the best of the best. The staff are helpful and most importantly, they genuinely care about the residents. If you or a loved one is looking for high quality extended care program, I urge you to look into Sunset.

I am a mother whose son went to Sunset House Recovery. During that time, I found counsellors to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful. This is an effective and very caring program. I cannot express how grateful I am for their efforts. I find it sad and unfortunate that anyone would post a negative review under another person's name.

As someone who's been to Sunset house, let's just say more than once, I think I am most qualified to judge the program. The people there really care about you. It's more than just a halfway house, if you're going there expecting a flophouse then this is not the place for you. There are groups, and rules, and individual therapy meetings that you are required to attend. Do the right thing and this place will help you beyond your wildest dreams. People do screw up and relapse but that's just the nature of the beast. They are more than willing to help you after and this doesn't depend on whether they "like you or not" it depends on the willingness you've shown previously. If you're trying and doing the right thing, Sunset House will bend over backwards to help you. George there has been a godsend in my life. He's helped me through many a rough patch and never turned his back on me. Even since I graduated the program we still keep in touch and sometimes he calls me just to see how everything's going. That's the level of care that they have for the clients there. I don't need to defend George's past, but let me say that what the previous review mentioned is simply not true. I knew George even before my time at Sunset House. He's a great person and does everything the right way. If you're looking for a place to just lay your head and not follow a program or do the things necessary to live a sober place, then there are many other places you can look. If your serious about wanting to change your life though, Sunset House is the place for you. They can't force feed sobriety down your throat, but if you're willing to do the work, the help is here. Go after it. Thank you to Mike, George and everybody at Sunset. Some of my biggest sober supports now are even former techs that worked there during my time. I give an A+ to Sunset House
